Facebook ads: what you need before you start with Mayorca Young

How do you know when you’re ready to start Facebook ads?

My guest this week is Mayorca Young, owner of Mayorca Digital, a Facebook Advertising Agency specializing in Facebook ads and sales funnel strategy. Her agency helps online coaches and course creators scale their offers, increase their impact, and grow their email list on autopilot.

In this episode, we talk about what you need to have ready before you dive into ads, how much you should be setting aside, breaking down what it’s like working with an expert or agency, and so much more!

Grab your cup of coffee and join us as we talk about:

  • How to know when you’re ready to start Facebook ads
  • Common Facebook ads mistakes people make
  • How do you know if a campaign is working?
  • What does a typical facebook ad budget look like?

Getting started

First things first: before you even think about investing in Facebook ads, have you tested your offer organically? You need to be able to prove you can make money with your offer before you start paying for ads. How long should you test it before you scale with Facebook ads? Mayorca suggests at least 3 months. So before thinking about trying Facebook ads, give yourself a good 3 months of selling organically.

What if I don’t have an offer yet?

Many entrepreneurs just aren’t ready to start selling a product or an offer yet, and that’s ok! You can still run facebook ads depending on where you are in your business. You can still utilize facebook ads to promote a free guide to build your email list, so that when you create your offer, you have people to sell to.

Ok! I’m ready! Now what?

When you’re ready to start using Facebook ads, make sure you actually have somewhere to take these people to, like a landing page or a website, or bare minimum an opt-in form. Your ad needs to have somewhere to take people. If you’re ready to scale your offer, make sure you know who your audience is and that you have the money and budget to invest in the advertising.

Remember: learn from your data and use trial and error to figure out what works. Think about your budget: don’t spend too much on something that doesn’t convert, and don’t try to go for the sale too fast or pitch your services to a cold audience!

How do I know if a campaign is working or not?

Mayorca suggests allowing about 3-5 days, depending on the offer, to see if it’s working and if any changes need to be made. Don’t make changes too fast. Start slow with your budget. Remember: it’s not just the ads. It could be your landing page or your website. Maybe you don’t have enough social proof on your website. Maybe there’s something in your email funnel that isn’t clicking with the client. It takes time and trial and error to learn what’s working and what isn’t!

How much should I budget for ads? What is a good cost per result?

On average, Mayorca’s clients budget about $4000 for ads, but people starting out in their businesses can start at around $1500. As far as the cost per result, that depends on who your ideal audience is and how narrow that audience is, but $3-5 is what Mayorca aims for.

What to look for when hiring a Facebook ads expert

When you’re ready to invest in Facebook ads, hire an expert like Mayorca. Make sure there’s going to be a good working relationship, ask questions about previous clients they’ve worked with, ask what you need to spend, ask to see their results. Be open to knowing that sometimes facebook ads don’t work, and an agency can do everything that they can, but if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work! Sometimes ads can be a gamble, and you as the entrepreneur need to be prepared for that.
